This booklet explains the gospel in a chronological manner from creation to the cross. Using expressive line art illustrations and carefully controlled text, the core message of the Bible is explained in simple-to-understand English so that even someone who uses English as a second language can clearly understand.

Assumptions: Assumes reader has little or no prior knowledge of the Bible.

Chronological: Begins with the creation of the universe, and then, progressing sequentially through key Old Testament stories, it moves into the New Testament to reveal the meaning of the cross and the tomb. The main story of the Bible is tied together into one universal, all-encompassing drama. The content is brief so a reader can complete the book in approximately 45 minutes.

Objective: Allows the Bible to speak for itself in presenting the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no arm-twisting to believe. The message is presented objectively; the decision to believe or not to believe is left to the reader.

Believers who are alert for opportunities to give away the gospel message find that The Story that Matters works well in many situations. The booklet can be given away at baptisms to help explain its meaning. The booklet may also be offered at funerals and weddings to explain to friends and family the hope that you have in Jesus Christ. Other occasions where believers may want to share the Bible's message include graduations, housewarming, baby showers, wedding anniversaries and more.

Then there are the “open doors” that arise every day to give away the gospel. The booklet may be presented as a token of appreciation to service staff at restaurants and hotels. You can give a copy to the plumber, mechanic or nurse, who has provided assistance. Here's how you use the sleeves:

Peruse the list of occasions and select the message that best suits your need.
Download the respective PDF.
Using Adobe Acrobat Reader, select "Fit to Paper" and "Landscape" orientation to print out the sleeves on your colour printer. (We recommend plain white paper.)
Cut out the sleeves along the grey cut lines. Each sheet provides five sleeves. Print and cut as many sleeves as you need.
Fold each sleeve around a copy of The Story that Matters and tape the ends together with tape or a sticker (such as those available from Avery, etc.).
And there you have it! A copy of The Story that Matters ready to be handed out at the appropriate occasion.
