First-ever performance of the GoodSeed musical at our Bible Camp
Once every two years, our global staff, families and friends gather for our International Bible Camp. This year’s was a great time of prayer, worship and fellowship. We gave updates to all the staff on the plans for the coming months and our invited speaker taught us through the book of James. It was not all serious business though. There was lots of catching up, games and sharing testimonies of what God has been doing in each of our lives and in our areas of work.
While the adults had meetings and training sessions, our children had their own camp. There were devotions and a whole lot of outdoor fun. The weather started off cool but as it warmed up, the kids were out there in the sand, in the water and flying through the air! We knew they had a good camp because we only saw them at mealtimes.
One major highlight of our time together was the very first performance of the musical we’ve been developing for some years now. We had pulled together a small choir comprised of staff and friends. They had spent a number of weeks rehearsing 16 original songs written by our music team. (We are very grateful for all the time they put in!) And we had a three-member cast who did a read-through of the story portion. Thus with a blend of story and music, the gospel message was presented in our familiar creation-to-the-cross architecture. The aim of this massive project is to equip churches around the world with a tool they can use to reach out to their community in an friendly and engaging way, while still maintaining a clear gospel presentation.
We hope to release a sneak peak of the musical soon so you can have a taste of what it’s like. Stay tuned!
The cabins at camp. Many of us shared cabins, giving us the chance to have fellowship with each other. This is especially important as we’re scattered all over the globe and only get together once every two years.
It’s always good to begin with the worship of God.
We had staff and friends form a small choir. Though they only had a few short weeks to rehearse, they really poured their hearts into it.
Our musical is designed so that churches of any size can perform it. Here we have the minimum number needed to pull it off.
Because we were performing the musical, we needed lots of help for sound. We had nine mics going!
Our camp speaker took us through the entire book of James. It was a really good of time of studying God’s Word together.

The sun was out and the children were ready to get into the water.
The sun was out and the water was cool. Perfect combination for boating activities.
The children had fun catching crayfish in the lake.
While the adults were in meetings, the children got to try something different… heating up old-fashion brands to press them onto wooden planks.
Most of the adults didn’t see this but the kids were hanging out with the locals… an alpaca!
This was a test of nerve and lung screaming capacity. The hardest part was that you had to release yourself to start the swing.
Besides getting all staff up to date on what’s happening in the ministry, there were Bible study sessions, a parenting talk, team meetings and lots of catching up, prayer and laughter.
Our choir sang and the cast performed a “read-through” of the musical for the very first time!
Our singers are performing the opening song. Our staff from the around the world are listening and watching for the first time. Exciting!
At the end of the musical, staff, family and friends respond to what they had seen and heard.
